- This Citation family, the Excel, XLS and XLS+ was designed to take the speed and performance advantages of the Citation X and downsize it to satisfy the traditional Citation market and compete with the higher end turboprops.
- The Excel is a very roomy aircraft and the XLS upgrade featured more powerful engines and a glass cockpit. The XLS is more powerful with FADEC engines and the first of its type to have fitted the four screen Collins Pro Line 21 avionics package.
