(Please click here to go to the Air Ambulance Main Pages)

Aviastra's Air Ambulance section is functionally separate from the company's passenger operations and is dedicated to looking after patients and their families who find themelves ill or injured abroad. The staff are available around the clock and their experience covers hospital medicine, air ambulance ground operations, medical flight team operations and air ambulance aircraft flight crew.

Our role is to provide a central point of contact to arrange and co-ordinate the entire process of an air aimbulance repatriation. We look after families as a whole as well as providing the very highest standards of medical care and aircraft equipped for all circumstances. We understand that most people have never needed an air ambulance before

For each case patients and relatives will always be looked after by a pair of staff to cover the entire 24hr period providing a familar and reassuring support throughout.

Medical Staff

Air Ambulance requirements vary considerably and we use highly trained medical staff to cater for all specialities and levels of complexity. The doctors, nurses, paramedics and emergency technicians conducting flight operations are selected not only for their professional expertise but also for their practical skills and experience in looking after patients and relatives who are in what is sometimes a slightly unfamiliar enviroment.

We provide specialist care for every situation and medical reports and clinical decisions are always reviewed by clinicians with the experience and qualification relevant to each case. These specialists are either the actual staff looking after patient's in transit or the clical director responsible for that team.

Insurance

Aviastra does not itself provide medical travel insurance. Our service is available to insurance companies who's clients are insured and we also look after families who for whatever reason have no insurance or who's insurance has been declined. We take our duty to keep costs under control ver seriously and we appreciate the difficulties that lack of insurance can present. However, we strongly emphasise the following: efficiency is achieved by careful planning only, we will not under any circumstances compromise on any aspect of an air ambulance or other operation that has a bearing on safety or medical care.
